The Fun Academy is a marketplace of online classes for kids in different languages.
The Fun Academy was created by bilingual moms who wanted more for their children’s language journey than the available classes for kids. They wanted to break out of traditional language classes and enrich their children’s learning through the activities and hobbies they love. In addition to traditional language learning, they wanted to present enriching opportunities in different languages for children who are already learning at home or school.
The Fun Academy is also here to help bilingual parents find enriching opportunities in for their already bilingual children. Children undoubtedly learn different than adults and science has proven that language learning is more effective when it is incorporated through active play. The Fun Academy exists so parents can easily find qualified teachers and activity facilitators to provide those invaluable opportunities. Through these lessons, kids learn a different language in fun and interactive ways that increase their vocabulary and provide crucial opportunities to use the language.
So, whether your child is dipping their toes in language Supported Zoom Versionslearning or already speaks a different language at a native level, there is something for them! The best part is that we have done the work for you to locate and identify the best classes and teachers. There’s no need to search everyone for different native professors to teach different subjects in your target language, you have them all in one platform!
We help parents find and register their kids for great language classes across a variety of topics. We help qualified native educators manage and promote their classes from their own country to kids and parents in the US. All of our classes are online and interactive delivering excellent learning experiences. Most of our classes are individual based, but we offer some small group classes as well.
Every educator is screened, background checked, and provided with quality training by our team.
The Fun Academy was designed to students ages 3 -100, regardless of their schooling background, with class listings specifying the age range for which a class is designed. Since most of our classes are individually based, teachers can create or accommodate their curriculum according to your specific needs..
The Fun Academy classes should be based on your expertise. You can teach any subject you have expertise teaching in your own, preferably native, language. You will need to send proof of experience on your field. Teachers also must have at least an intermediate level of English to be able to communicate with parents and the technical skills and experience with Zoom to successfully run online classes.
We review the professional background and education of all of our teachers. Our team also ensures that teachers have at least an intermediate level of English to be able to communicate with parents and the technical skills to successfully run online classes.
Each class is reviewed and approved by our team before it’s listed on the website, ensuring that all of our classes meet our standards for unique content, learning goals, teacher expertise, class experience, and more.
We ask that you please watch this step-by-step tutorial video explaining how you should sign up as a teacher at The Fun Academy:Watch Video
After you have been approved (you will receive an approval email), visit your dashboard to work on your first listing class. You can add as many classes as you wish. You will need to create a video (upload it on either Youtube or Vimeo and share the url) and class description for each one of the classes. Please be as detailed as you can be. All the descriptions should be in English. If you don’t feel comfortable recording a video in English, you can record it in your own language and add English subtitles to it. If your video is not in English and it doesn’t have subtitles, you will not be approved as a teacher. Once you’ve finished with the class application, it typically takes 1-3 business days for us to review the submissions. It is not uncommon for first submissions to need editing. If your class is not published, please follow the feedback provided on your email by our class approvals team and we will work with you to get it listed. We want to help you make your class listing the best that it can be!
There are a few restrictions on your first class:A class listing is written primarily for parents, but it should not be overly sales-like in tone. Many parents will also show your listing to their kids before they decide to enroll. Each listing should stand on its own: remember, it may be the first The Fun Academy page that a family has ever seen. It is often the first impression that a family has of you as an educator, so be sure to spend extra time on your listing so that it is accurate and professional. The Fun Academy classes should not be deceptive, sensationalized, or misleading and should adhere to our class content policy.
Note that new teachers must successfully list their first class before they can request listing for additional classes. A successful listing is one that meets our class standards and has been approved by our class approval team. We will not consider additional class listing submissions until the first listing has been published. Beyond that point, there is no further limitation on the number of classes that a teacher can publish provided that all listings lead to high-quality class experiences. Due to the high volume of class requests that we receive, a class that has been submitted more than three times without the appropriate edits made may be rejected.
Additionally, when making changes to an existing and approved class listing, certain changes are possible without going through the approvals process again, but some changes need to be resubmitted for approval before relisting the class.
These elements are what a family or students will first see when they discover your class on The Fun Academy.
Title: It is important that the title is descriptive of what your class will be covering. It’s okay to include a catchy phrase to help your listing stand out, but the title should not be sensationalized and should clearly outline the content of your class. Class titles should be in title case (eg. "Creative Writing: Short Stories”). Titles should not be in all uppercase, should not have excessive punctuation, and should not contain any emojis or alternative fonts. Your title should not refer to the target age range, pricing, or length of the class. The only exception is if you are offering the same class to multiple age ranges, in which case the title can distinguish between age ranges like so: "Introduction to Creative Writing (Ages 10-13)."
Photo: Choose an image that is engaging, age-appropriate and at least 500 pixels wide. Make sure you have permission to use your image (no copyrighted or watermarked images, please). Do note that images that are less than 20% text will perform better in our Facebook ads, so we recommend keeping words to a minimum.
Video: This is probably the most important section of your class listing. Parents and students will have the opportunity to see you as a teacher. You can record a video designed for families and/or for students providing a brief overview of your class.
Group Class Size: We recommend small classes for a more individualized learning experience, especially for younger students. We recommend group classes to be capped at a maximum to 6 students.
Age Range: We only ask for specifying the age range for group classes, so that most of the students have the same age range. Note that individual classes do not follow this age range policy and can be listed for any age range, provided that you clearly list your expertise that supports a wider range of experience levels and ages.
Price: Classes shouldn’t be free, and we enforce a minimum price of $1. Prices should be round numbers. For example, $19 or $20, not $19.99. Teachers may not refer to where their earnings will go in their class listings; for example, stating "earnings from this class will go to charity X" is not permitted.
Descriptions that are well-written and highly detailed will help set expectations and get enrollments.
Class Description: The Class Description section should contain all the details about your class so families can make an informed decision about if your class is the right fit for their students. The longer your class is going to be, the more detail you should provide. Topics to cover in the class experience section include:
What will be taught? What topics will you cover, and when? How is your class structured? How will you teach? What's your teaching style? How much will students get to interact with you and each other? Is there any required experience or background knowledge that students should have before enrolling? What is the pacing of the class?
Homework: Will you be assigning homework between class meetings?
If so, let families know in your listing by including more detail, such as:
Will students be completing projects?
Is there a culminating project that students should expect to complete?
How long will homework take between class meetings?
For a class requiring reading, approximately how many pages will students be expected to read independently?
Assessment: Will you be assessing students during or after your class? You can describe what sort of tools you will use to assess progress or gauge learner mastery over the skills and topics covered. You can also give parents an idea of what a progress assessment, if any, will look like (e.g. a letter grade, written report, informal assessment, etc).
If your class requires materials, external sources, or has specialized expertise or parental guidance requirements due to your class content, be sure to specify this information on your class listing.
Parental Guidance: Whenever your class content will be sensitive in nature -- such as by being potentially upsetting or scary to some students, by containing moderately violent or graphic imagery, or by requiring students to be extra safe (such as handling knives in a cooking class) -- you must include a Parental Guidance statement explaining to families exactly what they can expect from your class, so they can make an informed decision about whether their kid is the right fit. We recommend checking Common Sense Media to make decisions about age appropriateness.
Teacher Expertise: We recommend you write at least, a little bit about your background and teacher expertise. This will give you more credibility and is your chance to tell parents what makes you a great teacher for the classes you are teaching and why you are excited to teach them! As a reminder, do not link to your personal social media accounts or other ways to contact you outside of The Fun Academy.
Materials: If you class requires some specific materials, we recommend you list them on the description of your class to ensure that families have time to prepare for your class. This may include ingredients for a recipe, supplies for a project, or books/textbooks. If you are including a book that you authored, you should disclose that in the materials section. If you want the students to use a resource that cannot be purchased from other vendors you should include the price of this resource in the class price. If you require a kit to run your class, you must include the price and the exact list of materials included in the kit; alternatively, you may privately message parents with links to your website for kit purchase, if you only direct parents to your external website for that sole purpose, and not to collect their personal data for any other reason. All the external websites links should be in the US with prices in US dollars.
Teachers set their own class prices from the class edit page. Please note that the price on this page is for the full course, regardless of length, and they are paid per student. We recommend setting one-hour class in the range of $15 - $20. Nevertheless, this is a marketplace, and you can set up your price as you wish! Feel free to explore different prices to find the model that works best for your teaching business.
You will be paid the full amount for the classes you taught in the first 5 business days of the following month. The Fun Academy takes a 30% service fee, so you will receive 70% of enrollment fees based on the number of students enrolled. We will pay you via Paypal; don’t forget to add a valid Paypal account in your teacher profile under “Payout email”.
Once your class is listed, students will be able to see your class(es). They may message you before booking a class to make sure your class will meet their expectations.
Once students enroll in your classes, you will be able to communicate with them directly through our messaging system, manage any transfers, refunds, and withdrawals.
The Fun Academy has students all over the world, so teachers are able to get enrollments at various times. The most popular times tend to be Monday-Friday from 3pm to 7pm EST and Saturday mornings. We would recommend experimenting with times and duration to find the best times for your teaching business!
The Fun Academy offers classes on a variety of topics! You should teach something that you are passionate about and in which you have expertise. Use your teacher profile to communicate to families why you are a great teacher for these topics.
The Fun Academy classes take place over Zoom. You will use your own personal account to connect with your students. Note that individual classes don’t have a limit of time. Zoom also comes with many helpful classroom management tools to keep your class running smoothly.
Zoom video conferencing works with many types of devices and operating systems. If you don’t already have Zoom installed on your device, we recommend you do. You can also join the meeting/class via browser and from your own dashboard once you sign in in our platform.
Read more about Zoom’s system requirements on their support site.
If you are new to Zoom we strongly recommend testing your device before your first live class. Use Zoom’s “Join Meeting Test” link to verify that your device can run Zoom meetings.
Families located throughout the world are able to use Zoom, but there are a few restricted countries and regions for regulatory reasons. See Zoom’s official up-to-date list of unsupported countries.
You can only access live classes with Zoom version 5.6 or greater installed on your device. We recommend upgrading to the latest version of Zoom, as it includes fixes and improvements to the quality of class meetings.
Zoom version 5.8.6 allows you to automatically keep your Zoom app up to date, ensuring you are running a supported version. From Zoom Settings, check “Automatically keep my Zoom up to date” and select the best method for you to get these updates (Slow or Fast, as seen in the image below).
The Fun Academy classes should be unbiased, inclusive of all students, and intentionally designed to represent diverse viewpoints fairly and accurately. This ensures that all teachers, students, and families feel welcome on our platform and can expect a positive experience in their classes. We’ve detailed our policies for class content below, and educators should observe these guidelines when designing class curriculum and submitting listings for approval.
The Fun Academy classes should be secular. Two topic areas where this is particularly relevant are:

We welcome students of all abilities at The Fun Academy. Many of our educators have backgrounds in teaching children with various abilities. Others may be open to it. If there is a class you like, message the teacher directly and see if they might be a good fit based on your kid’s needs.
The Fun Academy is free to join, and each class is priced separately based on class format, teacher’s experience and preferences. We accept all credit cards, debit cards and Paypal funds. All of the payments are made through our payment processor, Paypal. All classes are backed by our Refund Policy Plan.
We accept payment by credit/debit card, with Paypal as our payment processor. Paypal is a widely-used payment provider that powers our class purchases. Paypal accepts major credit and debit cards, including Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, Diners Club, and JCB.
The Fun Academy is a U.S. based company, but our students as well as our teachers may come from all around the globe. All prices listed on The Fun Acdemy are in U.S. Dollars (USD), but we accept most international cards. We use Paypal as the payment provider for all of our enrollments; you can check Paypal list of supported countries to see if you can pay for classes from your location.
When you purchase a class at The Fun Academy, you will be charged the equivalent of the listed USD price in your native currency. The currency conversion depends on the daily exchange rate offered by our payment provider. If you are refunded for a class purchased with a non-U.S. credit card, you will receive a refund amount based on the latest exchange rate. Because the exchange rate changes over time, your refund may not be the exact amount that you originally paid for the class.
The Fun Academy offers individual and/or small classes that are focused on interaction. Because of this, each child should be enrolled individually. Some teachers are willing to provide sibling discounts, so you can always message a teacher before signing up for a class to see if this would be a possibility.
We encourage students to participate in their natural learning environment, using the device of their choice. The Fun Academy works on all major web browsers, and we use Zoom for live video meetings. You’ll need a working webcam and microphone, and a solid internet connection.
All of our classes take place live, if you wish to have your class recorded we encourage you talk to the teacher prior to the class to se if they can provide a recorded version of the session.
The Fun Academy was designed to be user friendly and easy to use. You don’t need any specific software to use the platform; only a web browser and stable internet connection.
